Welcome to The Life Unusual.

My name is Mary. I’m 36 and I have an undiagnosed chronic illness. I’m learning to thrive even in this time of illness, and trust in the Lord for His perfect timing.

I named this blog The Life Unusual because my life has been just that: unusual. I once imagined a life for myself that was normal and safe, but God had very different plans for me. I lived in Africa for seven years, and had the opportunity to be involved in some wonderful Christian ministries. Now I’m fighting an unknown illness several of my doctors believe came about from my time in Africa. Although God has led me through some unusual and hard circumstances, I don’t think I’d take any of them back. He has taught me incredible lessons from the things that have happened in my life.

I hope you enjoy reading my reflections and discoveries, and that they encourage you in your own life as well.
